I cast on my pride socks this morning, and they are flying. I decided I really want contrasting heels and toes on these socks, but I’m away from home at the moment. I popped into a big box craft store hoping to find black yarn, but all I found was cream and gray. I haven’t decided which I will use, but I’m leaning towards the gray. Or I might decide to wait until I’m home and use some scrap black I have.
It feels ridiculous to be writing about picking a color for heels on socks. It shows my privilege. People are fighting for people of color to have basic rights, like not being killed by the police, and I’m worrying if cream or gray works best as a contrast to my sparkly rainbow socks. I am committed to doing more, not just posting about what is wrong and how George Floyd was murdered. For every pair of pride socks completed during this KAL I will be donating $5 to the Southern Poverty Law Center. I highly encourage you to join me if you are able.
I know there is so much love and support in this knitting blogging community. Let’s do our part to show others the love too.
I’m so with you. I need the knitting for my sanity but posting about it seems ridiculous. Share your total and I’ll donate too!

Your sock looks great! I like the gray for heels and toes. It will make the rainbow stand out:)

Great socks and great idea! I’ve been looking for a way to reconcile the small bit of joy I’ve been getting from these rainbows with everything happening right now.

What a generous gesture. I appreciate your commitment. This has been a very difficult year of all of us. Too much anger and fear. Not enough love.
Go with the grey heel! xoxo Regina

You sure are going through some tough times over there. It is so good to see people around the world uniting behind the “Black Lives Matter” movement though. It also gave me hope tonight to finally see coverage of all the peaceful, positive marches and protests that have been happening across your country, instead of just focusing on the violence and negativity of the extremists.
As an aside, i think the gray will be a better colour if you don’t decide to wait and go with your black. Take care of yourselves and stay safe.
