Sock It To Me Monday

I have lost my sock knitting mojo, so I thought I would share with you two fun KALs I’m planning for this summer.

June – Pride Month KAL. Join me in knitting rainbow socks in celebration of the LGBTQ community. Show your support by working on them in public. Want to go above and beyond? Gift them to a member of the community that is knitworthy. I’ll be sending out a stichmarker or progress keeper to anyone who participates.

July – Christmas in July KAL. Do you want new Christmas socks this year? July is a great time to start, especially if you are easily sidetracked by other projects. I’ll be knitting some self striping WYS in the faerie lights colorway. Pick your favorite Christmas (or any holiday, if you don’t celebrate Christmas) yarn and get to work. I’ll be sending out a stitchmarker or progress keeper to anyone who participates.

I’m hoping hosting two sock KALs will get me my sock motivation back. I hope you haven’t lost your motivation to knit.

Craft Tote

Every day the kids get to do a craft. I have been keeping random craft stuff around the house, they would find it, then insist on doing it right then. It was a mess.

Today I put together a tote of crafts they can choose from. I’ve set a schedule where each kid gets to pick the craft every other day. They are both excited and have been looking at the tote today deciding what they will pick on their next turn.

Wish me luck. I’m really hoping this will keep the crafts organized and easy to pick. I’m also hoping they don’t bug me about doing crafts all day every day now that we have a process.

Staying Home Q&A

Karen from NothingButKnit has another great Q&A up on her sight. I thought I would share my answers here. I would love to hear your answers too, so answer in the comments or let me know if you’ve posted on your blog or commented on Karen’s blog.

  • How are you filling your time at home? Are you cleaning out your closets? Crafting? Maybe trying out new recipes?
  • Have you discovered anything worth watching? My local cable company is offering up free channels, is yours? Have you trying anything you’d like to recommend?
  • Have you found a silver lining to this whole stay at home thing?
  • Have you found a blog post that’s been particularly inspiring to you? Please share. It doesn’t have to be coronavirus related, inspirational is the only requirement.

I’m filling my time at home with baking. I’m not cleaning. I’m not reading. I’m not knitting. The only time I feel normal is when I’m baking, so I’ve been doing it a lot.

I haven’t discovered anything worth watching. All I have been watching is PBS NewsHour and knitting podcasts.

I think the silver lining has been watching baking fill my instagram feed with friends trying new techniques. It has also given me time to get better at sourdough baking.

Marilyn at Yarn, Books & Roses has been writing great stuff about staying sane. She also knits some pretty great stuff, including cat replicas.

Let’s Chat

I had such a fun time chatting with you on Skype last weekend I want to do it again. Please join me this Saturday at 7 PM CST for a Skype knit night. I will also have a Skype morning chat on 4/5 at 10 AM CST. I hope you can join me and my spazzy awkwardness.

If you want to join just send me your Skype ID so I can add you to the call (unless you are Kirsten, I’m just going to add her). If you don’t have Skype, no problem, just send me your email address on Ravelry or Instagram and I’ll e mail you the link once I start the meeting.
