Oh my gosh, steeking is cool. I want to try a sewn steek too. One pocket lining is all it took to make me want to cut up my knitting.

This week is flying by for me. Luckily, it feels like my knitting is flying along too.
I’m working my way down the leg of the second sock. I’m hopeful I’ll get to the heel flap today.
I’ve finished knitting the first pocket lining of the Throughstone sweater. I would be steeking it today, but I didn’t bring the right size of crochet hook to secure the steek. I used magic loop on this lining, but I’ll be switching to DPNs for the second lining. It is the first time I will have used DPNs in years, so wish me luck. I really like that the pocket linings are used as the colorwork gauge swatch.
What are you working on this week?
Winter hasn’t really kicked in with cold weather yet, but my brain is totally in winter mode. I just want to hang out and craft. It’s hard to get the kids outside to play, which is not good for them, but it is really good for my knitting productivity.
I cast on my January project last Friday. I’m making John the Bikey Beany from Alterknit. I don’t have much experience with colorwork, and I’m hoping to change that this year. I really enjoyed knitting the bikes, but now I’m at the boring part of the hat. I’m hoping to get to the crown decreases today, because I need more than stockinette in the round to keep the project interesting at this point.
I knit about an inch on my shawl this week. I am enjoying it, I just haven’t made time to pick it up.
I am making progress on John’s socks. Swim lessons start again tomorrow, so these will probably be going in the swim bag and worked on once a week. Or I’ll become obsessed with them and have them done by next week. There is very little middle ground in my knitting.
I’m apparently having a very blue January.
What are you working on this month? Do you have an unexpected color theme too?
