On my walk this afternoon I started thinking of the things I’m grateful for. The top of the list? I’m not quarantined. I can get out and go for walks. I can go to the grocery store. I’m not stuck in my house. Sure, it feels like I’m stuck in here, but I can still go outside and run to the grocery store for milk, bananas, eggs, and spinach (the same four things we run to the store for every other day).
I am also thankful for The Happiness Lab, which had an entire episode on dealing with loneliness and social distancing. It gave me a few ideas to keep up with my friends outside of social media. I was supposed to get together with Kirsten this week, but COVID 19 means she won’t be travelling. We are going to have a video call wine date instead. Later this week I’m hanging out with Jess over Skype, because in person knitting dates probably aren’t going to happen for a while.
If you want to do a virtual knit night with me, or want someone to text with, I’m here. Just drop me a line and we will figure out a time that works for both of us. Being stuck at home together is better than being stuck at home alone.
Good things that happened this afternoon:
All in all, it was a good day. A surreal day, to be sure, but a good day all the same.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day.

It helps so much to get outside. I’m grateful this isn’t happening in the middle of the winter when the temps were too cold to go outside. Even my teenage son, who spends most of his day in his room, admits that walking the dog is refreshing. I’m glad you guys are doing okay!

I’ve founds it’s been really good for my mental health to reframe as “physical distancing” – we are still social people and we can still be social in different ways! We need each other now more than ever and we just have to find different ways to meet that need.

Happy (belated) St. Patrick’s Day! It looks like fun was had by all 🙂 Online knit groups and wine dates sound like wonderful ideas – very handy for being a little social without being out and about any more than you have to.

Pleased you can get outside. Love that Wrigley has ambitions in the stick world. Dogs and oversized sticks. Love them.
