Yesterday I picked up clearance Easter egg dye. Today I decided to use it to dye some Shropshire yarn I spun last year.

I filled a baking pan with hot water and yarn. I added about a cup of vinegar and popped in the dye. After making sure the dye dissolved I covered the yarn and baked it at 300 until the water was clear (about an hour).

Once the yarn had cooled to room temperature, I washed it in cold water. I hung it up to dry outside on this sunny and hot day.

After a few hours in the sun the yarn was dry and ready to skein up. I love how the blue turned out.
I now want to run to Target and buy the rest of the clearance dye. This was a fun and easy project. The kids are going to dye yarn tomorrow, and I’m excited to see how that turns out.
Amazing!

I do too! I want to use only blues and greens the next time I’m in possession of several egg dyeing kits.

What a clever idea. I bet Audrey loved this project.

She did! We’re waiting for it to cool down a little bit here before she gets to dye her own yarn.
