Today I spent the day exploring Pella, IA with my MIL. I was headed there for my second Moderna vaccine, so we decided to make a day of it to celebrate. After my jab we had a day of mask on exploration.
We visited the quilt store.

We visited one of the many Dutch bakeries in town.

We looked at the tulips.
Pella does not have a yarn shop, so we headed up to Newton to check out Jan’s Yarn Barn. I had never been to that store, but I will be back. I picked up some yarn for an upcoming shawl, two pairs of slippers for my MIL, and some alpaca sock yarn. The shop owner threw in the fuzzy cake of yarn. She likes to throw in skeins from yarn reps to share with her customers.

It was fun to be out exploring today. It was a nice change of pace.
What a fun outing. I would have shopped the day away.

Oh, I certainly did. I visited lots of shops, but not much called to me.

It was a lovely day. The town is pretty, and close enough that I can pop over to visit.

What a great day! Congratulations on your second shot! Sounds like a nice day of shopping and hanging out with your MIL. You got a nice yarn haul, and how great that the shop owner threw in a free skein of yarn 🙂

Yarn for four projects, plus the bonus! What’s first? I love the sock yarn; it’s a great colorway.

I love the sock yarn too! I already made my MIL some slippers, as she really appreciates them.

Sounds like a lovely day with your MIL. Is Pella Iowa where Pella windows come from? Or Pella interfacing? You got some lovely yarn too.

It is where Pella windows come from! They have lots of buildings around town, all of which have very nice windows.

It is a very pretty town. They have a tulip festival every year, and we were lucky the tulips were up early this year so we got to enjoy them.

Oh wow, that blue alpaca sock yarn..swoon. You are brave to go into shops after only a second jab. I have waited two weeks to do anything after my second shot. Tomorrow I’m actually going to see a doctor in Boston (new dr set up visit) after a year and a half. I can’t wait to get a haircut, teeth cleaning, and be able to do my own grocery shopping instead of pick up outside and not get exactly what I wanted. I’m still cautious though I wear two masks and even wear a mask to walk the puppies in a basically empty neighborhood.

One of the perks of visiting small towns in Iowa is that there just aren’t that many people. We were able to stay apart from others and we did wear masks.
