I have a few projects going at the moment. I am still spending most of my time in the recliner with my foot up knitting. It is not as delightful as it seems. I’m having a very hard time sitting still, but being up on my scooter leads to lots of pain, so I continue to sit.
Here’s what I’ve been working on.
John’s Blanket

I told my family that I would knit them anything they wanted this year. They each got to choose one project. John picked a blanket. I’m using sport weight merino that his parents brought back from Italy two years ago and Knit Picks Paragon, a merino, alpaca, silk blend. It’s not an exciting project to work on, but the yarn feels great. I am trying to knit one 50g ball a week on this blanket.
Outline Wrap

I’m using my Chromatic Yarns Advent calendar yarn to make an outline wrap. I’m knitting the colors in the order they were received. This project will look totally different after it is blocked. These are not my normal colors or the type of project I normally work on, but I am LOVING this.
Midas Hat

The Midas Hat (Ravelry link) is my current favorite hat pattern. Other than vanilla socks I rarely repeat a pattern. This will be the fourth Midas Hat I’ve made. I’m using yarn Bonny bought because it was purple but the photo was a lie and it isn’t purple so she sent it to me. I am not sure if this hat is for me yet. It might go to my sister because I think the blue speckles will go with the mittens I made her for Christmas.
I’m trying to keep myself to three projects, only because it’s cumbersome to have so many projects bags around my chair. I have so many yarns I want to knit with, so I might be casting on a fourth project today.
What are you working on?
I think it’s good advent yarns push us out of our comfort zones and into brighter or different colours. I haven’t knit anything since Monday and that was just a cup cosy! I am in that can’t decide mode. So doing weaving online classes and playing on the oculus.

I have a few UFO’s that really should be finished up. Other than that, I have the little teal color cowl, but it is almost done. I’m glad to hear that you have a plan and are working it!

I wish I could work on more than one project at a time!!!

You are getting so much knitting done. I am happy to hear this. That being said, it is going to be a glorious day when your cast comes off. How much longer will you have to wear it?

I wish I could limit myself to three projects, but I seem to love casting on all the things. The upside is, in a few months I get a bunch of FOs at once! But yes, it is a bit of a mess in the meantime. I love that outline wrap- so beautiful!

I go through phases where I can’t stop casting things on, then all I want to do is finish projects.

Love your Advent knit, and the blanket, which looks very warm and cozy. I have Orkney of course, and a pair of socks on the needles.

I just bought three balls of Paragon to test for Bob’s sweater, but it’s too itchy for him. Do you have enough balls? Do you need any balls? I just like saying balls.

BALLS! I think I have enough, but won’t know for 15 months (which is the time I expect to be knitting this blanket).
Balls.

Your spirits seem good Sarah. I’m so glad your children are behaving and you can get through the day with your foot up. Do you motivate them to help you? I LOVE your cabled blanket !! and I may try your hat pattern. Hats are either 100% wonderful or a miserable fail for me.

The kids are young enough to think helping is cool. The blanket isn’t really cabled, it just looks that way because I haven’t blocked it yet. I love the Midas Hat – I think you should try it.

Your projects are looking great! That looks like it will be such a cozy blanket, and also I love your advent yarn wrap! That is such beautiful yarn and a beautiful pattern 🙂 I’m glad you have a nice range of projects to work on – some simpler and some more complicated. That’s always a good mix!

I love the blanket! Your family is lucky they can each choose something. I’m working on a cardigan for my 18 year old son and a shawl for myself at the moment.

I have so many projects going it is in danger of spinning out of control! This week I have been taking it easy (but not as much as you… so sorry about that bad boy foot!) and knitting mostly on a shawl and a sock. I have hopes of finishing the socks before the end of the month and then it will be the highly technical Mando mitts, the less challenging Goldwing sweater, and the totally not challenging at all garter stitch wrap. I need more knitting hours…

The blanket looks like the kind of project that will be so wonderful and cozy to use, but would be kind of boring after a while. The crazy colored wrap is definitely more my speed! Hope your knitting helps keep you sane and occupied!

Oh I love love love the yarn for the hat, it’s beautiful. I can’t believe how much Knitting you get done but then you are kind of stuck. Hang in there. At least this didn’t happen in the summer, I know that’s no consolation at all but that would be much worse.

It would be much worse. Every time it snows I remind myself of that.

I envy your abundant knitting. I worked on my Hermione’s Time-Turner Sweater yesterday, the colorwork section and finished three rounds.

Abundant knitting time isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. I really miss walking.
