I’m a week out from surgery on my ankle. The pain has improved, but I’m still stuck in a chair with my leg up most of the time. I’m not in a great head space, but at least the space around my head looks great.
I made an Iowa Hawkeye hat for myself by blending two patterns. I used leftover Beaverslide Dry Goods fingering weight yarn and size 2 (US) needles (size 3 for the colorwork). The hat isn’t blocked yet, but nothing is getting blocked around here until I can walk.
Thank you for all of your well wishes. I’m hoping to get back to blogging and reading soon. I’m so thankful for my Blogville Knitters friends. If you ever free at noon central standard time you should join our Skype call. I’ve made dear friends on the call and would love for you to join us.
I’ll need to Google which sport the hawkeyes are, I only know the full set for Michigan. Amazing that you’ve managed colour work when in pain (or on strong painkillers). Just to add the calls are on Sunday.

The Hawkeyes are in the same conference as Michigan, so they actually play each other in most sports.

Are they a University then?

That hat is wonderful and your eyes are still beautiful and brown. I look forward to our call tomorrow!

Great little hat, only I didn’t recognize the hawkeve. Mostly because this is the first one I’ve seen.
And I’m very glad to see you blogging again.

Hope you’re healing well; didn’t know you had surgery.

I am feeling better. I broke my ankle and they needed to fix it with a plate and screws.

You look great! Remember playing cats in the cradle with your fingers and string? The kids could do that with you?

That is a great idea. This morning they kept busy with fake tattoos. Their faces are covered.

Oh my goodness I was constantly checking your blog to see if you were feeling better and you had let us know. You look good, but I know it must hurt terribly. Take care and please don’t try and do too much. I’m sure your kiddos are doing everything they can to help their mom.

Just catching up — sorry to hear this! Dan broke his tibia a couple years ago playing volleyball and ended up with three screws in it after surgery. Did you get any additional hardware? Glad you’re on the mend.

Thank you, Susan! I have seven screws in my ankle now. It makes me feel old.

[…] I’m casting on a hat for my older sister. She requested a Luther hat like my Iowa hat. I used a free website to create the chart. I was not able to change the orientation of the chart […]
