I finished John’s hat this afternoon, just as snow started to fall. He wore the hat to shovel and has pronounced it his new favorite hat. The pattern is bikey beanie from Alterknit Stitch Dictionary. The dark yarn is Knit Picks Hawthorne and the light blue is Dreams in Fiber. Both yarns have been in my stash for at least a decade.

Yesterday we didn’t need coats to play outside. Today we needed all of our winter gear. Winter in Iowa can keep you on your toes.

I hope you are kicking off your weekend with whatever makes you happy.
The hat turned out great, and looks like it fits him perfectly! It definitely looks like winter has found you guys 🙂

Oh yes, we avoided it for a long time, but it is time for layers of wool now.

It looks great. I’m surprised the wheels look so round, you’d think that would be tricky without making them huge. Oh I wish we had snow.

When I looked at the chart I had a hard time believing the wheels would work. I’m glad they did. It is kind of nice to have snow, but I’ll be sick of it in two weeks.

We’ve had about an 1/8th of an inch fall this morning and I’m super excited lol

That is a good amount – pretty, but not enough to shovel.

Excellent hat! It looks like you finished it just in time:)

Great looking hat, there! We had just under two inches here yesterday, and now it will be 20’s and 30’s but no more snow for next week, unless it changes (and it usually does!) 😊

We have 2 days forcast above freezing for next week, so I’m hoping it clears the streets. I like winter, but only if the roads are clear.

Fabulous. John looks good in his new hat. I also like knitting with Hawthorne, and the Stroll line of yarns from KnitPicks. And I’m intrigued by Alterknit Stitch Dictionary.

It’s a great book, I will be making more things from it.

Yay hat! We’re getting the show today and I have to say, I liked yesterday’s weather better than today’s.

Amen! I like snow, but only for 24 hours or so each year.

The hat looks great! We’re having the opposite here in CT – it was freezing yesterday and today it’s in the 60s!

I hope it warms up here. I was really hoping for a mild winter.

HE IS SO great to wear it. My clan here is so so picky about hats. Id make that and there might be a little problem and no one would wear it. Lets be less picky here please! your hat is gorgeous

Thank you! He is a big fan of the hat and wore it to bed last night. If he doesn’t take it off soon I’ll have to wash it before the end of next week.

If he doesn’t wear it you never have to make him anything again.

The hat is so cool! We had gorgeous sunshine today but am supposed to wake up to snow tomorrow morning. The saying here is wait 20 minutes and the weather will change

Weekend snow isn’t as bad as weekday snow. Hopefully you can look out your window at pretty snow and knit.
