Hiking

I took the kids hiking this morning. They are still sick, but had enough energy for me to want to wear them out. There was a dusting of snow and the air was crisp. It was a great way to start the day.

It would have been an even better start to the day had I worn appropriate footwear. For the third time in three weeks I’ve hiked in worn out running shoes. My cold feet finally motivated me to buy new trail runners and new running shoes.

One of my resolutions last year was to move more. I stuck with it. I walked at least 10,000 steps every day last year. When I was sick. When I was travelling. The day that I had a colonoscopy. I didn’t miss one day. I don’t know if I’ll make it this year, but I’m sure as heck going to try. I have yet to find an excuse worth ending my streak over.

If you make resolutions I hope they stick. It feels really good when they do.

The day you had a colonoscopy?! You are super woman! I nearly died from the drink they give you the day before! Walking any steps was out of the question, I AM IN AWE!
