I had the best time last night. My friend Ivy took me to go see Willie Nelson, and I’m still riding high from the experience (no, not that kind of high).
I love Willie Nelson. When I was a kid I had a 45 of On The Road Again. I listen to his music whenever I need a good story. I love singing along to his songs on long drives.
There were three opening acts for Willie: Brandy Clark, Robert Earl Keen, and Dwight Yoakam. I had heard of Dwight Yoakam, but didn’t know any of his songs. I hadn’t heard of the other acts. I loved them all. I think Brandy Clark’s music would be ideal for singing along on road trips. Robert Earl Keen’s music really made me wish I could two-step. Dwight Yoakam dances with a wonky leg and it is incredible to witness. Even if I didn’t get to see Willie I would have been happy with the concert.
Willie performed many of my favorite songs. He did not sing Pancho and Lefty, but he did sing a Tom T. Hall song, which was just as exciting for me.
I had such a fun night. My cheeks hurt from smiling so much. It was so great I don’t even mind that I started the day with a bit of a hangover (2 cans of hard lemonade are apparently enough to do me in).
What is the best show you have ever seen?
Tough call. It’s tied between Bruce Springsteen and the show I saw that had four stars: Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Shawn Colvin, & Bruce Hornsby. I think The Boss wins, though – he’s such a good showman!

I would love to see Bruce Springsteen. I have been dreaming of seeing his show on Broadway lately.
